New: São Leopoldo Mandic is the first institution in Brazil to use Apple technology for integrated education in its curriculum

On March 21st (Thursday), first-semester Dentistry students at Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic (Class XXI) received iPads, consolidating the alignment of this delivery with the course's new pedagogical proposal. Apple's technology for education is already used in other institutions and schools in Brazil. However, for the first time, it has been fully adapted to be integrated into the curriculum, bringing ease to the academic routine.

The Executive Director of Dentistry, Dr. Rui Brito, highlighted the impact on students: “The main objective is for students to learn more and more. We have our own innovative methodology and we believe in the importance of offering tools that help them in this process. We believe that the integration of technologies is an irreversible path and, in this sense, São Leopoldo Mandic is at the forefront.”

Through Apple's resources, São Leopoldo Mandic also prepares students for a more digital market, as Brito highlighted: "Dentistry is a very digitized specialty, especially in diagnosis and planning, and we are aligned with that."

Since January, the teachers have undergone training and development to ensure the efficient implementation and inclusion of technological resources, and they will soon receive the "Apple Teacher" certification.

Furthermore, the integration also involved SeJunta, a company specializing in the integration of Apple technologies in educational environments. Guilherme Camargo, the founder, spoke about the benefits of its use: “São Leopoldo Mandic has turned the iPad into an educational tool, ensuring that the use of this technology is not isolated and without context. This is the great differentiator that makes the institution stand out from the point of view of innovation.”

The project initiative was led by Gabriela Victorelli, manager of the Mandic Hub, and took about a year, as it involved market research, project redesign, and adaptation to the curriculum. Victorelli commented: “The role of the Mandic Group's innovation hub is to bring innovation, and this is not just about technology, but about its integration and incorporation into all aspects of reality.”

Apple for Education is one of the innovation initiatives for 2024. Victorelli intends to use it for students in the coming years of Dentistry: “We will evaluate the results of this implementation through a series of indicators that will be continuously measured throughout the process. Based on this data, if it is positive in relation to enhancing the personalization of the teaching-learning process, we will have sufficient information to justify expanding it to future undergraduate and postgraduate classes in Medicine.”
