Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility

In line with its commitment to ethics and excellence in education and to the development of society, Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic promotes actions and campaigns in various areas of Social Responsibility.

It is always with a globalized perspective in mind that we need to exercise social responsibility and bring opportunities, in a humane way, to all those who lack them. That is why São Leopoldo Mandic actively participates in major social programs.

Health Boat

The São Leopoldo Mandic College seeks to transform its ecosystem with initiatives focused on environmental issues. EcoMandic Day is a day dedicated to rethinking habits and fostering an environmentally healthy environment.
The movement promotes selective waste collection, conscious waste disposal, and the adoption of cleaner technologies, such as digital radiography, and reduced plastic consumption. These actions contribute to reducing environmental impact and training environmentally conscious professionals.

The documentary "Amazon: The Lung, the Blood, and the Green-Yellow Blood Cells," by photographer Giancarlo Gianelli, documented the Health Boat project and, in recognition, received an Honorable Mention from the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Institutions – ABMES in 2018.

The material includes testimonials from participants and also from members of the indigenous community of Alto Autazes, in the Amazon, showing the positive impact of such services, as well as the relevance of this social action.

Social Movement
Mandic

The Mandic Social Movement (MSM) carries out activities with people experiencing homelessness. The story began when one of the Movement's founders was walking through downtown São Paulo and was inspired by a group of teachers who brought soup and recited poetry to people living on the streets.

I brought this idea to the institution, spoke with students, and received support from the Medical School Coordination and friends.

Since then, every month, the members of the Movement wait for the day of the action to arrive and bring food, blankets, hygiene kits, and clothes to the homeless, practicing volunteerism and bringing assistance and a friendly look to those in need.

Mandic Express

The "MANDIC Health Express" project aims to promote medical and dental care in peripheral areas of municipalities in the southeastern region of Brazil, through educational, preventive, and curative actions.

In addition to serving the population, the project promotes professional training and updating in the medical and dental fields, and there is the possibility of developing retrospective/prospective scientific research in the field of health. This is another project that encompasses the integration of teaching, outreach, and research.

The work teams are composed of undergraduate students in Medicine and Dentistry, supervised by professors from different specialties.

Professionals working in the health field at partner institutions also participate in the project, such as health agents and dental assistants. In the dental area, treatments are carried out on adults and children in a mobile unit (trailer) equipped with 4 dental offices.

In the medical field, services will be provided in a mobile unit (trailer) with capacity for 5 medical consultations. These are educational, preventative, and curative actions in the areas of Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Pediatrics.

The project also includes preventative health guidance that will be conveyed during consultations by undergraduate students using posters, large-scale models, and other playful resources, developed in accordance with the "Learning Through Play about Health" Project.
