According to the 2026 edition of the SCImago ranking, the institution is among the top 150 in the world in Dentistry. 

The São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty has been recognized as the best private higher education institution in Dentistry in Latin America by the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026.In the overall ranking, the faculty occupies the 131st position among the 731 universities evaluated worldwide, in addition to standing out among the top 10 institutions in Latin America.

For the evaluation of institutions, the SCImago Institutions Rankings uses a methodology recognized for its rigor. In addition to aspects related to infrastructure, the ranking considers the scientific impact generated through academic production, technological innovation, and social contribution.

In this sense, among the main criteria analyzed are the relevance of published research, the development of new technologies, patent registration, and institutional visibility.

Furthermore, unlike other rankings, the SCImago Institutions Rankings is not based solely on an annual evaluation of the institution, but considers the consistency of all scientific and academic output over time. In other words, the ranking primarily recognizes the ability of higher education institutions to maintain consistency in high-quality research of international relevance.

For São Leopoldo Mandic, this achievement reflects a consistent trajectory of academic growth. In recent years, the institution has advanced in the rankings, moving from 11th to 10th position in Latin America. This progress, although it may seem small, accompanies the strengthening of investments in research and advanced training programs in the health field.

According to Dr. Marcelo Napimoga, Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research at the institution, the recognition is the result of a collective effort. “The joint work of professors, researchers, students, and staff made this achievement possible. They are the ones who build, on a daily basis, an academic culture of excellence, innovation, and social impact,” he states.

Based in Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo, and with units in other regions of the country and in Portugal, the institution stands out for its strong integration between teaching, research, and clinical practice from the beginning of training. In addition to recognition by SCImago, São Leopoldo Mandic has also been among the ten best higher education institutions in Brazil for 15 consecutive years, according to the MEC's ​​General Course Index (IGC). In this way, the institution consolidates its national and international recognition for excellence in health education and scientific research.
