São Leopoldo Mandic expands horizons with its Internationalization Program

With an innovative and constantly evolving pedagogical approach, Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic reaffirms its leading role in the educational landscape by investing heavily in its Internationalization Program. This initiative integrates a strategic vision of institutional transformation, academic qualification, and personal development, promoting global experiences that enrich teaching, research, and professional training.

Among its offerings, the program provides students and professors with the opportunity to experience learning at partner institutions around the world, with an emphasis on the fields of Medicine and Dentistry. Furthermore, Mandic also opens its doors to international students, strengthening cultural and academic exchange.

Currently, medical students from the institution are already participating in hospital internships at leading universities in countries such as Portugal. Others, such as at Harvard University in the United States, have completed elective internships that have broadened their academic, scientific, and international networking experiences.

Mobility also happens in the opposite direction. One example is the student from the University of Coimbra, in Portugal, who completed her elective internships at Mandic, experiencing firsthand the medical education offered by the Brazilian institution.

Another highlight of the Internationalization Program is the Free Mover, which allows students to participate in exchange programs independently, choosing a destination institution outside the partner network. In these cases, São Leopoldo Mandic offers all the necessary support to facilitate the application, including institution analysis, contact with the university of interest, and assistance with documentation.

It was this type of internship that led Pedro Dantas , a 12th-semester medical student from the Araras campus, to undertake a practical internship in Portugal

“I went through the Free Mover program. The university helped me with the documents so I could be accepted. It was extremely beneficial to understand how medicine works in Portugal, which is a little different from that in Brazil. It wasn't an observational internship—I actively participated and performed procedures. The experience was very enriching,” he reports.

In addition to academic mobility, the program also promotes international lectures with guests from different countries and initiatives aimed at strengthening English language skills, preparing students to work in a globalized and multicultural environment.

With initiatives like this, São Leopoldo Mandic reaffirms its commitment to providing excellent medical training, geared towards the world — with no borders for knowledge.
