Scientific Initiation

PIC

The São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty is opening applications for its Institutional Programs for Scientific Initiation Research Scholarships (PIBIC) and Technological Development and Innovation Initiation Scholarships (PIBITI), supporting projects by students in the Dentistry and Medicine courses with scholarships. The scholarships are granted by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and by the institution itself. The scholarships will be valid from August 2026 to July 2027.

The project submission period will be until June 1, 2026, and the results will be announced on August 3, 2026. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the student's academic performance, the advisor's curriculum vitae, and the scientific merit of the project, as evaluated by external reviewers.

The Scientific Initiation Program (PIC) aims to awaken scientific vocation and encourage new talents among undergraduate students, as well as stimulate researchers to involve these students in scientific and technological activities. According to Professor Lucas Novaes Teixeira, coordinator of the PIC, "Scientific Initiation plays a fundamental role in the development of critical thinking and contributes significantly to the student's professional training.".

The PIBIC annually awards 12 students scholarships to The PIBITI has 2 scholarships available through the Mandic HUB – Health Innovation.

is Scholarship selection based on the student's academic performance, the advisor's curriculum, and the merit of the project, which is analyzed by external evaluators, according to the specific requirements of each program.

And it's not only scholarship recipients who can develop their proposals. Those who are not awarded scholarships can participate in the PIC (PIBIC or PIBITI) as Volunteer Scientific Initiation students.

SEMIC

The Scientific Initiation Seminar (SEMIC) at the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty is a free event, open to the institution's internal community, where students showcase their Scientific Initiation projects developed throughout the year.

The event showcases the results of scientific research conducted during undergraduate studies through the Scientific Initiation Programs (PIBIC and PIBITI), which include work developed with the support of PIBIC/CNPq, FAPESP, institutional, HUB Mandic – Health Innovation, and private sector scholarships.

In addition, there are presentations on various topics and research conducted by students under the guidance of professors from different specialties.
