Students from São Leopoldo Mandic conduct a technical visit to the Health Center, the institution's new field of practice in Campinas

The new medical practice field at São Leopoldo Mandic aims to expand the availability of beds for the Unified Health System (SUS).

Medical students from Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic Campinas participated in a visit to the institution's new practice field, the Casa de SaúdeCampinas.During the visit, the students were able to learn about the facilities where, in the future, care will be provided to SUS (Brazilian public healthcare system) patients. Furthermore, the activity provided a greater understanding of the hospital's daily routine.

During the visit, the students were introduced to São Leopoldo Mandic's proposed activities within the Campinas Health Center. The presentation clarified how the space will function and, above all, what its role will be in medical training.

The students toured the Mandic facilities within the health unit, accompanied by the institution's staff. The group visited different sectors, from the pharmacy to the surgical center, understanding how each area integrates into patient care. Throughout the tour, the students also learned about the dynamics of the hospital environment, understanding the stages of the routine and the processes that are part of patient care.

For Eduarda Lucia da Silva, a first-year medical student at São Leopoldo Mandic, the experience was remarkable. “It was a very comprehensive visit. We got to know the entire hospital structure, including the surgical ward, the ICU, and the post-operative beds. We also saw how areas like management, engineering, and pharmacy work, understanding the path of medications to patients. I am very happy to be able to call the Health Center my home in the future,” she says.

Finally, the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty plans to begin operations in the space in the first half of 2026. The initiative aims to expand the availability of elective surgeries through the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System), responding to real demands of the public health system and contributing to the quality of care.

Furthermore, the space also aims to strengthen medical training. The structure will bring students closer to hospital routines and broaden their contact with real-life patient care situations, thus contributing to a training more aligned with the needs of society
