The Postdoctoral Internship is a human resource development activity aimed at conducting advanced studies subsequent to the applicant obtaining a doctoral degree.
The Postdoctoral Internship serves as an optional career path for professors and researchers, enabling the development of joint research projects in partnership with institutions in Brazil and abroad.
Candidates applying for a Postdoctoral Fellowship must submit a research project in conjunction with a supervising professor, demonstrating the contribution that the proposed project and the candidate's prior training will bring to the group in which the postdoctoral work will be carried out.
The supervising professor must be accredited as a permanent faculty member of the Postgraduate Program in Dentistry – academic modality – at the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty, have completed doctoral supervision, and demonstrate competence and productivity in research in the area of the presented project.
The Post-Doctoral Internship will last from 6 (six) months to 2 (two) years, and the post-doctoral fellow may request, with due justification and the consent of the supervising professor, its extension, up to a maximum period of 3 (three) years
Starting in July 2025, students entering the Post-Doctoral program will be required to pay an academic fee of R$ 2,000.00 after their post-doctoral application has been approved by the Higher Council of the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty.
The documents should be sent by email to the Postgraduate and Research Directorate at flavia.faria@slmandic.edu.br.
Acceptance into the Postdoctoral Internship will be based on an evaluation of the proposal by the Graduate Program in Dentistry Committee, which must be approved by the Higher Council (CONSU).
The candidate's Activity Program must be monitored by the supervising professor, who will submit a semester report to the Coordination of the Postgraduate Program in Dentistry, containing a brief description of the activities carried out during the period, according to the model attached in the forms section.
The postdoctoral researcher will be required to submit a final report presenting the research results, in accordance with the proposed and approved Program of Activities.
For approval of the final research report, the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Coordination will request an opinion from the responsible professor, based on which it will analyze the submitted report.
At the end of the Post-Doctoral Internship, after approval by CONSU, the General Directorate will determine the issuance of a certificate, which will include the name of the supervising professor, the Postgraduate Program or Faculty and the Research Group in which the project was developed, the title of the research carried out, its duration and funding source, as well as the location, city and country.
