Areas Research
Area of Concentration in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology
EPIDEMIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSIS OF DISEASES AND HEALTH PROMOTION –
To evaluate health and disease processes at the individual and collective levels, focusing on understanding their etiopathological aspects, as well as on diagnostic investigation and strategies aimed at care, assistance, control, and treatment directed at health problems and diseases.
Eiopathogenesis of Stomatognathic System Diseases and Therapeutic Approaches
To evaluate the etiopathogenesis of oral diseases related to the host, such as genetic alterations, microbiota and immunoregulation, as well as applied therapeutic approaches.
Oral Rehabilitation and Properties of Dental Materials and Dental Substrates –
To evaluate through experimental means (laboratory, clinical and stress analysis) and observational means (questionnaires, satisfaction level, perception of treatment quality) related to oral rehabilitations (direct and indirect restorations and conventional and implant-supported prostheses).
Area of Concentration in Restorative Dentistry

Area of Concentration in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology
Maxillofacial Stability:
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery procedures require the creation of stability to achieve desirable results. Various procedures, resources, and pathologies aim at maxillofacial stability. Scientific research will be employed to evaluate all approaches, resources, and techniques that have a direct or indirect relationship with results in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Area of Concentration in Restorative Dentistry
STUDY OF CARIOUS AND NON-CARIOUS LESIONS, MATERIALS AND OPERATIVE PROCEDURES – Research on carious and non-carious lesions and with direct and indirect restorative materials, cementing agents, adhesive systems and bleaching agents for application in Restorative Dentistry.
Area of Concentration in Temporomandibular Dysfunction and Orofacial Pain
Study of the Physiology and Use of Non-Invasive and/or Minimally Invasive Therapies in the Temporomandibular Joint and Masticatory Muscles:
Anatomical and physiological study of the temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles, as well as the use of non-invasive techniques such as thermotherapy or minimally invasive techniques such as dry needling in the control of TMD (Temporomandibular Disorders).
Area of Concentration in Endodontics
CLINICAL, RADIOGRAPHIC AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND TECHNIQUES APPLIED TO ENDODONTICS
Evaluation of the biological properties of materials, substances, techniques and procedures related to endodontic treatment, epidemiological research and therapeutic protocols in traumatized teeth, obturation instruments and materials, as well as techniques of use and biocompatibility, respectively.
Area of Concentration in Implantology
Osseointegration, Reconstructive and Regenerative Grafts:
A critical study of the implant/bone tissue and implant/gingival mucosa interface, considering its clinical follow-up and monitoring. Evaluation of techniques, mucogingival procedures, drug protocols, and biomaterials used in reconstructive and regenerative surgeries.
Area of Concentration in Pediatric Dentistry
EPIDEMIOLOGY, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ORAL DISEASES IN CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENTS. This study
aims to evaluate epidemiological aspects, diagnosis, and the impact of these diseases on the quality of life of children and adolescents. It also aims to study treatment modalities for oral health problems in pregnant women, infants, children, and adolescents, based on scientific evidence and the philosophy of minimal intervention.
Area of Concentration in Orthodontics
BIOENGINEERING IN ORTHODONTICS
Development and application of equipment or instruments and medicinal agents to meet tissue needs; reproduction of technological and biological studies of the relationships between tissues and biomaterials used in Orthodontics.
Craniofacial Growth and Development:
A critical study and analysis of craniofacial development in relation to various interception techniques, orthodontic movement, and the application of medicinal agents; as well as an evaluation of patient perception.
Area of Concentration in Dental Prosthetics
Dental and/or Mucosa-Supported Prostheses and Implant-Supported Prostheses:
Laboratory and clinical evaluation of the configuration of fixed and removable prostheses (partial, total, and implant-supported), as well as their physicochemical and mechanical properties and longitudinal clinical performance.
Area of Concentration in Dental Radiology and Imaging
USE OF IMAGES FOR DIAGNOSIS AND PLANNING IN DENTISTRY: OBTAINING, INTERPRETING AND ANALYZING.
This research line encompasses the study of diagnostic imaging methods in dentistry, acquisition techniques, post-processing tools, analysis, teaching and learning, as well as the interpretation and application of imaging methods in different specialties.
Area of Concentration in Public Health
Evaluation of Health Policies, Programs, Services, and Actions:
Evaluation of programs, interventions, activities, practices, management tools, and health services, using quantitative and qualitative methods.
EPIDEMIOLOGY AND HEALTH PROMOTION
Investigation of strategies aimed at care and assistance directed at the main oral health problems affecting communities. Studies applied to health and disease processes in the community, focusing on morbidity, identification of groups or risk factors, and the development of interventions.
