Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals
The Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals at the “São Leopoldo Mandic College” (CEUA – SLMandic) is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with standards regarding the humane use of animals for teaching and scientific research purposes, in accordance with current national legislation (Arouca Law, No. 11,794, of October 8, 2008) and international guidelines. CEUA SLMandic is accredited by the National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation (CONCEA), an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation; has its own regulations and is composed of professionals from various fields, including faculty members, biologists, veterinarians, and representatives from animal protection societies.
Faculty members and researchers who use anatomical specimens of animal origin must request a waiver of authorization from CEUA SLMandic by completing the CEUA SLMandic Waiver of Authorization Request Form for the Use of Anatomical Specimens, which must be filed with CEUA SLMandic (Animal Facility – 4th floor, Block B).
