Social Responsibility

Our Commitment

In line with its commitment to ethics and excellence in education and to the development of society, the São Leopoldo Mandic College promotes initiatives and campaigns in various areas of social responsibility.

It is always with a global perspective in mind that we must exercise social responsibility and provide opportunities in a humane way to all those who lack them. That is why São Leopoldo Mandic actively participates in major social programs.

Health Boat

The documentary *Amazonia: The Lungs, the Blood, and the Green-and-Yellow Blood Cells*, by photographer Giancarlo Gianelli, chronicled the *Health Boat* project and, in recognition of this work, received an Honorable Mention in 2018 from the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Institutions (ABMES).

The material includes testimonials from participants as well as members of the Alto Autazes indigenous community in the Amazon, highlighting the positive impact of these services and the importance of this social initiative.

Mandic Social Movement

The “Mandic” Social Movement (MSM) carries out activities with people experiencing homelessness. The story began when one of the Movement’s founders was walking through downtown São Paulo and was inspired by a group of teachers who were bringing soup and reciting poetry to people living on the streets.

He presented this idea to the institution, spoke with students, and received support from the Medical School’s administration and from friends.

Ever since then, every month, members of the Movement look forward to the day of action and bring food, blankets, hygiene kits, and clothing to people experiencing homelessness, volunteering their time and offering assistance and a friendly gesture to those in need.

Preventive Guidance

Preventive health guidelines provided during consultations by undergraduate students, using posters, large-scale models, and other interactive resources, developed in accordance with the “Learning About Health Through Play” Project.

EcoMandic

São Leopoldo Mandic College seeks to transform its ecosystem through initiatives focused on environmental issues. EcoMandic Day is a day dedicated to rethinking our habits and fostering an environmentally healthy environment.

The movement promotes selective recycling, responsible waste disposal, and the adoption of cleaner technologies, such as digital X-rays, as well as a reduction in plastic use. These actions help reduce environmental impact and foster the development of environmentally conscious professionals.

Support for Culture

São Leopoldo Mandic College also supports and values culture in the educational process and the positive impact it can have on its students and the general public.

The play “Brilho Eterno,” scheduled to premiere on stage in 2021, stars Letícia Spiller, Reynaldo Giannechini, Marco Griesi, Renata Brás, Roberto Arduim, and Tom Karabachian, directed by Jorge Farjalla and co-written by Victor Bigelli.
