Research Ethics Committee
The Research Ethics Committee (CEP) of São Leopoldo Mandic College (MANDIC), in its advisory, deliberative, and educational roles, evaluates and monitors the ethical and scientific aspects of research involving human subjects, either directly or indirectly.
To this end, the committee follows international and Brazilian ethical guidelines (CNS Resolutions No. 466/2012 and 510/2016, CNS Operational Standard 001/2013, and Circular Letter 166/2018), which aim to safeguard the interests of research participants in terms of their integrity and dignity and to contribute to the development of science within ethical standards.
Through the Primer on the Rights of Research Participants, research participants and researchers can learn about their rights and responsibilities.
CEP-MANDIC is subordinate to and accredited by the National Research Ethics Commission (CONEP) of the National Health Council (CNS); it has a multiprofessional composition and operates in a multidisciplinary manner, aiming to ensure pluralism in decisions regarding issues related to ethics and research.

See below for instructions on submitting proposals to CEP-SLMANDIC:
Involving human subjects
These include research projects and clinical case reports. Submissions of both must be made exclusively through the Plataforma Brasil, created and established by CONEP–CNS/MS to streamline the receipt of proposals. The manual and tutorial are available on the website. Research projects or clinical case reports must be submitted at least 14 business days before the regular meeting; if submitted after this deadline, they will automatically be reviewed at the subsequent meeting. The CEP’s opinion will be issued no later than 5 business days after the meeting.
For research projects:
As of October 20, 2024, it will be mandatory to submit proof of the principal researcher’s (student or faculty member) affiliation with São Leopoldo Mandic when submitting proposals on Plataforma Brasil. A copy of the front of the institutional ID badge with legible information will be accepted as proof. The deadline for signing the cover sheet is 7 business days.
