Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research at Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic is elected to the Executive Council of ORPHEUS

Juliana Napimoga is the first Brazilian and Latin American representative to join the executive body of the European institution of excellence in doctoral training

Dr. Juliana Clemente Napimoga, Academic Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research at Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic, was elected to the Executive Committee of ORPHEUS-MED (Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System), becoming the first Brazilian and also the first Latin American representative to hold a seat on the institution's executive body.

Founded in 2004, ORPHEUS brings together universities, researchers, and academic leaders from different countries with the goal of promoting excellence, quality, and best practices in doctoral education in the health and biomedicine fields. The organization works internationally to strengthen doctoral education based on high-level scientific research, quality academic supervision, internationalization, research ethics, and the social impact of science.

The election of Juliana Napimoga represents an important international recognition of the academic and scientific work of the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty, strengthening the institution's strategic position in global networks of education, research, and innovation.

Currently, Juliana is responsible for the academic governance of the stricto sensu postgraduate program, the institutional strategy for Research & Development (R&D), academic excellence indicators, and the internationalization of research at the institution.

In 2023, Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic became the first institution in Latin America to earn the ORPHEUS Quality Label, a European seal of excellence in doctoral education, following a rigorous international academic and scientific evaluation process conducted by the organization.

“Participating in the ORPHEUS Executive Committee represents not only institutional recognition, but also an opportunity to actively contribute to global discussions about the future of doctoral education, academic quality, internationalization, and the impact of science on society. I believe that training doctors today means preparing researchers, leaders, and professionals capable of facing complex challenges in health, innovation, and human development,” emphasizes Juliana Napimoga.

The director's participation on the executive board expands the presence of Brazilian science and postgraduate studies in strategic international spaces of academic governance and strengthens Latin American representation in global debates on scientific excellence and researcher training.
