Curriculum Structure of the Master's Program in Medical Sciences: Courses and Education
The Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences is grounded in courses covering theoretical, methodological, and didactic-pedagogical foundations that are interconnected and provide the necessary resources for training teachers and researchers, with the goal of fostering critical and scientific thinking, while strengthening research projects and lines of inquiry that contribute to this goal. The dissertation required for completion of the program is developed in accordance with the Areas of Concentration.
The curriculum structure of the Master’s in Medical Sciences is based on three pillars of training: (1) technical training, in accordance with the program’s Area of Concentration; (2) scientific training; and (3) teaching training.
This strategy aims to meet the program’s objectives in training highly qualified professionals for advanced clinical, teaching, and scientific practice—individuals capable of bringing about transformative change in society through teaching, the development of research lines, and the planning and implementation of public policies tailored to social needs.
The courses comprising the Master’s in Medical Sciences program were designed to ensure close integration between the curricular structure of the areas of concentration and the strengthening of research lines.

In the MASTER’S PROGRAM, courses in theoretical, methodological, and didactic-pedagogical foundations—which are common to all areas of concentration—are required and aim to foster critical thinking and provide incoming students with both didactic-pedagogical and scientific training. These courses are: Biostatistics, Biosafety and Medical Emergencies, Scientific Research Methodology, Higher Education Methodology, Experimental and Human Bioethics, Teaching Internship I, and Health Policies. For technical training, each concentration area within the program has its own specific and required courses.

Academic Doctorate in Dentistry
The courses for the DOCTORATE differ from those in the master’s program in that they allow for a deeper exploration of scientific and critical knowledge, with the goal of training researchers who have the autonomy to carry out their work at any institution. As with the Master’s program, there are required courses common to all areas of concentration, which are: Fundamentals of Cell Biology, Scientific Research Methodology II, Tissue Response, Oral Diagnosis, Finite Elements, Oral Microbiology, Biostatistics II, Biomaterials and Dental Materials, Immunopharmacology, Introduction to Lasers, Systematic Review, Clinical Seminars, and Research Seminars. For technical training, each concentration area of the program has its own specific and required courses.
